Epsilon Virginis (Vindemiatrix) and Delta Draconis (Altais) also receive mention. Like Sigma Draconis (Alsafi), what information is provided in the text contradicts reality. Epsilon Viginis is described as being remote with no connection to the core except a wormhole connection to Visigoth, but It is only a little over 100 ly from Sol, the Bayer Designation is also contructed incorrectly by using "Virgo" rather than "Virginis". Delta Draconis is described as being far from Sigma Draconis when they are a bit less than 100 ly apart in real life, and would be considerably closer if their distances in the text were correct (40 and 75 ly from Sol in roughly the same direction as they are in the same constellation)

If "honorverse galactic north" is actually "ecliptic north" then Alsafi and Altais are to the north (Ecliptic latitude 81°) as the north pole of the solar system is pointed at Draco.

"east", "west", "above" and "below" don't really have a clear meaning if you do this though, and calling it "galactic north" really doesn't make sense, especially given the existing meaning.

Attachment shows the location of Alsafi and the celestial, ecliptic, and galactic north poles in the year in 4103 CE.

(Interesting side note, in the 42nd century, Earth's pole star is Errai instead of Polaris.

So if we use the in text distances from Sol to Alsafi, Sol to Manticore, and Manticore to Alsafi we get an angle as seen from earth of 21.47 degrees. If Alsafi is in the same place in the sky at its new distance then we can get an idea of where Manticore would have to be.

If Manticore is in the direction we call galactic north in real life, it is instead somewhere over here

Also interesting, is that 500 ly to real life galactic north is approximately half a scale height of the thin disc. Sol is approximately on the galactic equatorial plane, a bit to the north so if Manticore is to real life galactic north, we should expect the density of thin disc stars to be about 60% that in the vicinity of Sol.

Thin disc stars are the younger, metal rich stars that are likely to have terrestrial planets.
