Question concerning the RMA levels for Marksmanship as used in the RMN, etc.

Hello Everyone,

The AO that establishes the RMA as the defacto program for marksmanship awards states the following:

Royal Manticoran Navy, Royal Manticoran Marine Corps, and Royal Manticoran Uniformed Civilian branches:

Pistol Marksmanship can be earned via the RMA programs for: Pistol, Grenade, Flechette Gun, Plasma Carbine, Tribarrel

Rifle Marksmanship can be earned via the RMA programs for: Rifle, Disruptor, Grenade Launcher, Plasma Rifle

Does this mean that any hours earned playing games in any of the listed categories under RMN Pistol can be combined towards the RMN Pistol award or is each counted separately even though they all earn the same award?

You only count your highest number of hours in each category.

Say I have 50 hours in the RMA Rifle category, and 50 in the Grenade Launcher category (I play tabletop war games and RPGs). I only qualify for Marksman under the RMN Rifle category, not Sharpshooter, since I don't have 100 hours in any single category.

Why not allow combining them since it would clearly encourage more gaming participation across the board?

You ask the very same question I do.

It does not say in the AO that only the highest counts, just all of those count towards the criteria.

If you read through the threads in this forum, it has been clarified that this is how the AO is supposed to be interpreted.

No clarification came from he who writes the ao, its all been interpretation. Like the how do we convert from old to new when the standard was to wait until all 50 sessions were done before submitting

I would suggest checking with your Fleet CO, since they are the issuing authority for the award.

With all due respect, this should not be a Fleet level decision since it affects all of the non-RMA branches. A decision, one way or the other, should be made so that everyone is on the same page moving forward.
