Roleplaying backstories

The thought occurs to me that, with members role-playing an Honorverse persona, a useful aid to developing those personas might be a shared space - such as a shared document or wiki - where they could interact to develop legends for their characters.
The obvious issue with this is the extent to which such biographies might constitute fan fiction.
With the obvious proviso that this could not and would not occur on a TRMN.org site, does anybody know what the acceptability of this would be:
A) as a privately shared document, such as a Facebook file with limited access, or
B) as something like, for instance, a wiki on a ship's website?

I'd also like to see how they do this in real life. If someone is role-playing the ship's navigation officer what are they doing in real life for their chapter or at cons to represent that?
Some are probably easier than others. Our dance instructor actually dances at cons and encourages others to do so. They also dance competitively outside of the SF community.
Stewards run con parties or suites.

As you said, it'd take treading carefully, as these biographies could be easily seen as a fanfiction and definitelly shouldn't be done on these forums.

However, that said, roleplaying is, to my knowledge, encouraged - and in my most recent roleplaying venues, that I've done over distance - I find Google doc shared files as quite efficient for this purpose. You can share them easily, and anyone can easily make their own too.

If memory serves me right, there's also an official tabletop RPG based in Honorverse in production, so that could be a nice way to get these going, once it's released.

They had an announcement at MantiCon last night about this. They are setting up a special forum for role play.

Since day one of joining tRMN I have had a fleshed out RP background for my org persona, I have also been offering RP at Maelstromm Steading for a few years now (The uptake in all the levels of RP (Casual, Intermediate and Advanced) offered have unfortunately been low)

Flying Sword have a official RP using the Epic D6 system and are developing a version using D20, the work done so far is broad and impressive to say the least.

RP for me has always been a major thing in my life, a pastime I have enjoyed for 40 years (Come December 2019) and I am always sanguine that I can find ways to increase the Honorverse related RP available to people.

I will be watching this thread to see how things develop.

I'll try to ask higher up my chain - they may know something more. :)

BuComm has nothing in the works for this. If it's planned, we aren't involved.
