So Star Trek: Bridge Crew has had a patch that allows it to be played without VR. I'm thinking this could be another prime con game in the same vein as Artemis and Horizons.

The only problem I see with this is the system requirements.

Both Artemis and Horizons only really need one beefy computer to play the servers, and the rest just have to be able to either run windows XP (Artemis) or a web browser (Horizons). Star Trek Bridge Simulator has higher system requirements as far as system performance, meaning each station would cost a considerable amount more. Not to mention with Artemis, you only really need one license from the developer, or Horizons with one beta tester, whereas Star Trek Bridge Crew would require a $25 purchase on each computer.

Just something to think about, sometimes the nice things can be cost prohibitive.

Or there is Empty Epsilon (EmptyEpsilon.org) which is opensource and a 2nd generation bridge sime which does nto require any beefy systems. Is cross platform Mac, Windows and Linux. Was designed for touch screens and uses lua script ((one of the easier scripting languages to use) for custom missions.. I invite anyone attending Capricon to come see it in action an play it Friday, Saturday or Sunday. of Capricon.

There's also Quintet which is free-to-play, allows various ship sizes anywhere from solo to 5 players. Works on Android, iOS, Windows, Mac and Web-based.

Plus also allows for "Guids" and the developer would probably be willing to work with us on various updates and fine-tuning if approached.
