has there ever been a marksmanship competition between fleets?
if not, is it an idea worth talking about?

Isn't it one of the categories for the Black Sphinx Cup?

The closest would be the BSC, as the fleet sizes vary considerably it would be hard to have a fair competition

Might depend upon what you were thinking of for a competition.

A general competition would be the Black Sphinx Cup system.

You might try a more complicated version of SITS - have the Fleet staff in one room and have to use chat to communicate to the individual ships who may or may not follow commands. The competition would be between two fleets, so a bunch of rooms and repeater boards.

Or see if one of the professional game designers in the club can create a convention game for between fleets. That's sort of kinda already in the works, but there hasn't been a sit down nor any funding talked about to do it.

interesting ideas, I just am not a big fan of SITS, but thats something else entirely... and once Ghost Rider starts being used, it makes things more like a game of Harpoon than laying to and trading broadsides...
