I'm wondering where I can find the Rifle Marksman and Pistol Marksman certificates? I'm serving as Range Officer for RMACS and have a member aboard Central Control who has earned a Marksman award. Do the certificates come from BuComms? If anyone has information about this, I'd much appreciate it.

As AD-09-1501 doesn't appear to specifically mention it, under what category do computer-based mmorpgs (Star Trek Online, Star Wars: The Old Republic, World of Warcraft, etc.) fall?

I am not an authority in this, but here is how I've interpreted those, and it depends on the scale of the MMO.

In the vast majority of MMOs you're controlling a single character at a time, and those fall under Plasma Carbine (Tactical Multiplayer Computer Games). This includes WoW, ST:O and SW:TOR. This holds true for small scale units as well (like a squad). If it's more on the level of countries or planets (think Civilization level of scale), it would fall under Plasma Rifle (Strategic Multiplayer Computer Games).

I hope this helps!

Dame Jill,

I appreciate your opinion. It seems well thought out and logical. However, I am looking for an answer from someone who has the authority to state definitively what category mmorpgs fit into. As these type of games are played by a large segment of the gaming population, I believe that they should be clearly listed in one of the groups, and not simply alluded to. Thanks.

Short form answer (from my end) is on the flowchart found in the AD, which counts as the source of info. So unless/until we hear otherwise, this is the answer.
http://wiki.trmn.org/wiki/index.php/Arm ... ve_09-1501
2. Does the game require primarily electronic equipment such as an arcade cabinet, pinball table, video game console, PC or tablet?
2.1 YES – If the game is an arcade, pinball, or cartridge-era console game, it falls under Plasma Carbine.
2.2 YES – If the theme of the game would qualify under the Strategic definition, the game falls under Plasma Rifle.
2.3 YES – If the game does not qualify under 2.1 or 2.2, it falls under Plasma Carbine.

Dungeons and Dragons would normally be classified as a "Grenade Launcher" class game.

However, given the requirements of COVID isolation and the need to network TRMN players throughout the organization, electronic means are used to connect the players. Does this change the classification from "Grenade Launcher" to "Plasma Rifle"?

I have a campaign starting on January 24th so an immediate answer is not required, and we can track accumulated time until a definitive answer is received.
