Not directly Honorverse, but does make you think with regards to impeller drives and Warshawski sails.

(Star Wars Episode 8 spoilers alert btw)

Thanks (I think) for the link. The explanation makes sense, but only if the assumption is made that it is possible to approach such high percentages of the speed of light. Of course, any increase in speed adds energy to the moving object. At even 0.25C, the amount of energy a small object (like a paper clip) would have would be astronomic.

This is why NASA watches for near-space objects that could strike Earth. At the speeds of such things as comets, the energy stored in the object would devastate large portions of our planet.

Not intending to be an alarmist, but that's the reality of the thing.

Regards -

Don't know what these new space travel technologies are, but the Honorverse isn't that far off with their FTL technologies . The Alcubierre drive (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcubierre_drive) looks pretty much like an Impeller to me AND it is FTL capable at the same time. NASA Propulsion Center admits that the theory behind it is correct and needs tweaking and further research. And well, we need to get it into technology as well. That will not happen overnight, but the first step is done! Find a sustainable theory that matches reality and that you can build on. And yes, I agree that this looks too promising to be true and I could still fail. But if Alcubierre pointed others the direction and we will eventually end up travelling space with FTL engines.

Major problem with the video I think. He's starting out with a false premise.
It wasn't a light speed kinetic attack in the movie. It was a ship entering hyperspace on top of another ship.

Well, that was the premise specified in the verbiage in the movie. However, that was not what was presented visually. According to what was presented in the video portion, the rebel ship entered light-speed operation just short of the Empire's ship and drove through it. That would make it a kinetic attack.
