I had an idea, when I took over as Range Officer 2nd Fleet, I had to fix some issues, including creating some marksmanship certificate templates... my idea was to create a packet for my CO's, probably as a zip file, that would have the rules/manuals/award templates all in one place. that we could issue to our troops and hopefully cut down on the hunting expeditions
NOTES:
1. the certificate templates could be locked down so that the only thing changeable would be Name/Rank/Date
2. it would be easy to name the zip file with a notation for version #

I have no idea if any of this has been covered. or what our other fleets are doing.
or have I completely lost my marbes for that matter

I also bashed together an Access database for Marksmanship Awards... My skill with access isnt incredible, its just name, rank, ship, pistol level, rifle level, so no privacy issues intended. is there somebody that has better skills with Access that can look at it for sanitys sake?

I work with databases daily, if you want a second eye, I'm willing to take a look when I get a chance.

What is your goal? A simple ship level tracker? If so then if all it does it show the current state of ship members, even Access is overkill. But doing a small ship-based database much like the tracker excel sheet that Capt. Bayonet is working on could benefit from some of the power and organization of a database.

I know its probably overkill, at the moment what I want is a database system where I can look up somebodys current award for Pistol, have it search. also to pull up the current status the crew of say HMS Ajax

I want to save time from having to e-mail a captain or search medusa by hand, right now I have 56 names, that the number of people who have gotten awards through my office since I took over[54]

I use Access since I have Office already, might as use what had available

Please use the official award certificates. Certificates for all the RMN/RMMC Marksmanship awards that come with a ribbon have already been provided to the Fleet CO's, who are the issuing authority. The non-ribbon Marksmanship Certificate is being worked on now that MantiCon is over.

we have been using the standard templates, per John Neitz they came up with a Marksmanship certificate, I am not sure what came down the food chain on this. if theres needs to be a different cert issued, I have a full record of whats been done.

Thank You Sir for your help

If it is the certificates that were sent by the 1SL to the Fleet CO's, then it's fine.

the packet I received from John Neitz did not have the marksmanship certs, but had the rest, so 2 2 Marksmanship certs were created. would it help to send somebody a copy of what we created?
