I have a question for the knowledgeable people out there. Does anyone recall any facts or dimensions about the dueling field in Landing? My HH books are in a box in a storage bin since I moved. All that I seem to recall is it was fenced in for privacy and both protocols could be used at the field.

The reason for the question is my ship is having a training day and the topic is Manticoran Dueling. Any help with the topic would be great.

If I recall correctly, the Dreyfus Protocol had them separated by about 60 paces (30 each), while the Ellington Protocol had them start separated by 40 metres. There would also be a GENEROUS gap between them and observers, to prevent the newsies accidentally taking a pulser dart or shrapnel.

Needless to say, most training day appropriate projectile launchers (NERF, paintball, etc.) either aren't going to reach that far, or aren't going to be safe if modified to work at those ranges. I'd recommend finding an open city park or similar, and experimenting until you find a distance that would work well for whatever medium you choose.

On another note, boffer weapons are fairly easy and cheap to construct should you wish to try Grayson-style duelling.

Thank you Chief Panter,

That is sort of what I remember. I just could not check to see if there was any more information. The plan is to talk about the known dueling practices in a classroom setting. Then use some NERF items in the practical.

I guess the means that I can use my own methods for marking the field and what the other dimensions are.
